Ask a licensed provider

Injectables consultation requests

Who may give injectables is set by California law. A licensed provider can talk through wrinkle relaxers and fillers with you at a consultation.

What an injectables appointment involves

Most injectable visits follow a similar outline:

  1. A consultation about your health, medicines and what you want to discuss.
  2. A look at the area, sometimes with photos for your record.
  3. Cleaning the skin, and for some fillers, a numbing cream.
  4. The injections themselves, given with a fine needle or cannula.
  5. Aftercare instructions and, often, a follow-up visit.

Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows. Who may inject depends on California rules. The provider decides at the consultation whether to go ahead, and you can always take time to think.

What a provider checks before injecting

A licensed provider usually asks about these before suggesting any injectable:

  • your health history, including nerve or muscle conditions and any autoimmune conditions
  • medicines and supplements, especially blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil and similar
  • allergies, including to numbing creams or past injectables
  • pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • cold sores, if fillers near the lips are discussed
  • past injectables, where and when, and how you got on
  • upcoming events, since bruising can show for a while

Honest answers help the provider decide what is suitable.

What to write down first

If you are thinking about injectables, start by writing down what you want to ask about in plain words. Something like a line you notice when you frown, or a question about the lips. You do not need product names.

Then add your health basics: conditions, allergies, medicines, supplements, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Finally, list past injectables and any reactions.

When you send a consultation request, the first part is enough. Save health details for the consultation itself, where a licensed provider can ask follow-up questions.

Questions about injectables

Who can give injectables in California?

Who may inject is set by state rules, and they differ. Depending on the rules, injectors may include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners or registered nurses, sometimes under supervision. Injectables are always given by licensed providers where state law allows. Ask any provider what license they hold and who supervises them.

Does this site inject anyone?

No. This site is not a clinic and has no providers. It passes your consultation request to a local provider in or near Bakersfield. Any injectable is given by a licensed provider where state law allows, after a consultation where they decide what is suitable.

Can I have injectables while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Most providers do not give wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If either applies, or you are planning a pregnancy, tell the provider at the start of the consultation. They will decide what is suitable, which may mean waiting.
